Hello, my is Tammy Brummell. I am an artist/illustrator/designer based in Oklahoma City. I have created art in varied capacities for the past 30 years, focusing on magazine publication. My process for editorial collage is to identify key elements in the story and figure out how to represent that in my illustration.

While working in publication, I also make art to satisfy my own creative aesthetic. After discovering the work of Felipe Jesus Consalvos, I fell in love with collage. I have been inspired by the Dada movement, Mexican Modernist and the many collage artists from the early 19th century to the present.

The character of my collage comes from a digital process and also an analog methodology. My background is in design, so the digital process came naturally. Ultimately I began creating analog collage and sometimes combining digital elements into the hand cut process. I also reverse that process by scanning my original artwork to incorporate into a digital piece. My work is a deconstruction of texture, color and images to create new narratives.

I have participated in over 40 art exhibitions in the last 10 years, which include the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, Mainsite Gallery and Leslie Powell Gallery. I am continually seeking new opportunities with the goal of collaborating with publications and pushing the boundaries of my editorial art.
